Nathan Tolbert
Academy Coach
Coach Nathan Tolbert has been coaching youth and high school sports for over
20 years. He began as an assistant coach at Carson Valley Middle School and
quickly moved to become the head freshman coach at Douglas High School. It
was then he was introduced to Jam On It and performed as an associate coach
in the girls spring & summer programs from 2001 to 2003. Nathan accepted the
position of Varsity Girl's Head Coach at Whittell High school in 2003 and
the team experienced their first post-season victory in 18 years. The Girl's
program continued to improve during his tenure, capped by a regional title
and 3rd place finish in the State Tournament four years later. He then moved
to Carson High School serving as an Assistant Varsity Coach for seven years
and Head Varsity Coach for three more play off seasons where he was honored
as Sierra League Coach of the Year. Over the years Nathan has coached
various youth recreation sports, directed various youth leagues & clinics,
developed a volunteer coaches education program for Douglas County Parks and
Recreation, spent a year as the Recreation Director in the Woodford's
Community for the Washoe Tribe, served a year as the President of the Carson
Valley Little League, and even volunteered as the host of the Miss Douglas
County & Miss Carson City Pageants for over a decade. Today, outside of Jam
On It, Nathan is the Head Basketball Clinician and an Advisory Board Member
for the MEFIYI (Me for Incredible Youth) Foundation serving Northern Nevada
youth, where he has organized and led many basketball camps and clinics over
the last five years.
